Are You A Real Estate Entrepreneur Or A Wantrepreneur?

Being a real estate entrepreneur has really been no different than the role of a ‘regular’ entrepreneur I’ve had for my entire life.

My summer has been quite amazing training with with Eben Pagan and Brendon Burchard.

When I was with them, they both said something (in different ways) that really stuck with me. I want to share it with you in a minute.

In a couple years (two as of this writing) I’ll be 50.  WOW.  I can’t imagine ‘saying’ that number.

That means I’ve been an entrepreneur for 32 years since my first “real” business.

If I’m really honest with myself, I don’t know if I can SAY I’ve been úber successful.  I’ve had great success in business, made money, but I’ve SACRIFICED a lot to get it.

I have always been a go-getter and never let fear get in my way.

It’s been great.
But it’s also been destructive because I had no direction.

I suppose I learned it from my dad, God bless his soul, because he did whatever he had to do. I trust he had a vision for his company, but I’m not so sure he had it strategically planned out.  That’s how most “entrepreneurs” play the game.

I’m all about adjusting along the way, taking things as they come and I’m familiar with the cliche sayings like “man plans and God laughs…”

But I’ve learned commitment and “planning” is really just about knowing where you want to go and making the strategic decisions today to get there.

But then on the other side…

…there are MORE people who never go after anything.  They are the wantrepreneurs.

The only thing they  do is plan.

And I’m not surprised of the number of people  who continue to sit back waiting and planning.

But let me tell you, ideas and intentions are worthless unless you ACT on them.

People ALWAYS say “I’ve got plans to move forward…”
“I’m just one step away”
“I’m looking for…”

But they don’t,  do they?

They don’t REALLY move forward. Taking the  NECESSARY step today that requires real guts.

Sure, we can pretend that we’re doing something by attending seminars or reading a few books but if we were to look  at our lives 3 years from now,

WHAT would have had to have happened for you to be happy with your progress?

THAT’S what hit home.  THAT’S what I kept hearing from Brendon & Eben and so many others.

I’m almost 50 years old.  That’s pretty scary shit.  That is, if I choose it to be frightening.

So every 90 days I’m measuring what’s working and what’s not working because in 3 years when I’m 51, I DON’T want to look back to today and think … “I SHOULDA.”

I want to he HAPPY with my progress. (read: the progress, not the destination)

When I was living for the future, the “destination” was always a “few years” away.  And every year it was the same.

So now, the ‘end result’ is part of my plan, but I focus on the progress to get there.

Hope that points you in the right direction for your dreams also!
