Real Estate Investing freedom is truly the MAIN goal everyone’s after…isn’t it?
To have the lifestyle you want, without worry.
I dedicate chapter 10 in my book, “How to Win at Real Estate to Break the Freedom Barrier”, to talk all about real estate investing freedom:
Here’s an excerpt from the book about real estate investing freedom:
Don’t Give Up Your CURRENT Lifestyle
In my opinion, there is NO NEED to give up your current lifestyle just so you can build a better one in the future.
That’s called SACRIFICE.
And although I’ll be the first to say that you need to commit and work harder than anyone else, it does NOT mean you give up your life to do it.
This is where so many people mess up.
To me, building a better future is about expanding what’s good and eliminating what’s bad about your life now.
You don’t need to move backwards. You just need to eliminate what’s NOT working, what you don’t like, and MULTIPLY what IS working and what you do like.
I’ve seen my share of sacrifice, personally, and with my clients.
We tend to believe we need to give things up to be successful.
The only things we need to give up are bad habits and distraction.
You don’t become successful in this or any other business by adding MORE. You become successful by REMOVING things, which does not include your lifestyle moments.
I’m not talking about the odd late night, or weekend seminar…
I’m talking about the bad habit of late nights, weekends, missing your children’s soccer games, skipping family events, neglecting your spouse and friendships…just because you’ve “got work to do”.
So what I want you to do is ask yourself these same 4 questions Brendon Burchard asked of me, that relate to your life RIGHT NOW:
1. What do I need to do LESS of?
2. What do I need to do MORE of?
3. What do I need to STOP doing?
4. What do I need to START doing? These questions are important to answer because it will build the boundaries in which you are comfortable.
For example:
• I need to do less “studying”
• I need to do more networking
• I need to stop working more than 10 hours a day and on weekends
• I need to start buyingWhatever it is for you, these answers should be affecting your present situation. And it doesn’t always have to be about real estate:
• I need to do less reactive stuff
• I need to do more exercising and take multiple breaks every day to slow down the chaos
• I need to stop eating junk food because I’m always “on the go”
• I need to start blocking time for my spouse, kids every day/night where I’m engaged with them…turn off my phone, etc. This may not be the “real estate strategies” you were thinking of when you purchased this book, but it’s TOTALLY an important part of your success, isn’t it?
If you’re like all of the people I’ve met and trained, family is right up there as a number 1 priority. So why would you give that up while you’re “trying to build” your real estate business?
I’m no saint here. I’m saying this because it comes from experience. Thankfully, I’ve woken up and am following my own advice.
