Committed People Have A Lot To Say

Have you ever noticed committed people have a lot to say? What does that mean?  It means these people are never short of a story explaining where they are in their lives.

I know this to be true because I just came back from one of my mastermind groups where twenty of the most influential and wise business people meet to help each other with business.

The simple truth is when you truly commit to change your life, the progression you make, even if it’s a slow crawl, gets you further away from where you USED to be.  The continuous refection as to where you are today opposed to where you were three, six or 12 months ago is obvious.

By the way, if you are NOT celebrating along the way reflecting on what you have accomplished, I think that is a fundamental mistake.  It is one of the most important and powerful exercises we do with our coaching clients & the results are incredible because most of the time we naturally ignore the good stuff and worry about the negative.

Most Never Change

You will also discover when you talk with people you’ve known for years who are basically doing the “same old stuff, just different day” routine, your conversations become more challenging.  At least this is how I feel.

How many ways can one complain about the same stuff?  I just say  “If it’s not what you want, don’t do it anymore.  Better yet, CHANGE what you are doing.”

Reflect on Steve Jobs

If the passing of Steve Jobs does nothing more than make you realize you must live your passion and not care what the world thinks, then he has made the impact he always intended, his passion lives on.

Steve’s commitment drove Apple, which in turn changed the world; it changed my life and it changed yours whether you realize it or not – THAT is a powerful outcome from one mans commitment.

Committed people have a lot to say because they’ve been there, they’ve done that.   They have inspiring stories, sad tales, and unbelievable achievements.

Helping others “see” what they do is part of the commitment and those who choose to do nothing repel – it’s just the way it works.

Next time you are lucky enough to be around someone who has taken a step to better their lives, pay attention to how you feel;   are you interested in hearing the tale or do you look for a way to excuse yourself?

The answer to that question may reveal your true position on changing your life.

What do you think?  Tell me your stories about how you’ve moved forward toward your goals.
