“The happiest people don’t have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have”. I grabbed this quote from my friend Mike G whom seems to find the perfect ones that fit my lifestyle.
Every so often, one in particular gets my mind racing and this one reminds me of all the people I see who IGNORE this rule. I’m not afraid, but ashamed to say I was like this for most my life. It is the reason at thirty-five years old I did not have any substantial savings or investments, living pay cheque to pay cheque and balancing credit debt from one card to another and no idea how to fund my families future.
My wife on the other hand has ALWAYS lived by this rule and because of her and so many of my new friends, associates and team members, I have learned and now choose to live this way.
What is truly cool about this small ‘shift’ in thinking is how we have attracted into our lives more of the same people that believe in these same morals, way of living and investment goals.
The others that are never satisfied always wanting more ‘shiny new stuff’ have slowly but surely wandered away. Why, did WE tell them to leave? Naw, I believe it is because we radiate a different energy and mindset from theirs. It is very relieving interacting with people that THINK like you do while they encourage, support and inspire through their natural actions.
THIS IS HOW I WANT TO BE.
I want to emit positive energy and bleed encouragement, integrity, support, knowledge and inspiration NATURALLY. In order for me to do that, I must LIVE and BE it.
When the choice comes to use our equity to buy another investment or a new car, the voice of reason (my wife) is loud and clear: ‘do we really need it, when will it ever end?’ And she is right, however every now and then the belief of ‘keeping up with the Jones’ creeps in and I am put back into perspective by all my influential and positive people in my network (life).
This doesn’t mean we WON’T get a new car or buy some new clothes…it just means we make the best of what we have until we REALLY need it. Our money therefore, buys us our future shiny stuff using our sophisticated real estate investment system. I used to want the immediate rewards just like everyone else…but walking amongst the gentle giants of success continuously reminds me to ‘stay on path’.
Those who continue to focus only on buying shiny new stuff are on a dangerous path. Are they buying because they REALLY need it or just ‘because’? I’ll bet most of the time it’s the latter and if that’s the case, why don’t they ‘just’ invest that same money for their future? They ‘just’ don’t, for whatever creative reason they think and doesn’t it put in perspective what is important to them? Or is it because there is a little bit of ‘work’ and more importantly ‘sacrifice’ (make the best of everything you have) to do it?
My friends, it is all about balance I know that, I’m not telling you to NEVER buy your rewards, but to get a true balance in life, be happy with what you have and strive to help others achieve what they want. This will help YOU get what you want – trust me.
